Interesting stuff for grade

1. The infant mortality rate in Afghanistan is 108.5 deaths/1000 live births. This is quite concerning considering that the average of the entire world is 32 deaths/ 1000 live births. This means that Afghanistan has close to three times the infant mortality as the world average. We can see the effects of this by the TFR being 5.02 children per woman because each mother has to have multiple children to increase the odds of one of them living to adulthood.

2. The total GDP in China $23.21 Trillion. This is interesting because it shows that China has the most money of all the countries. This might lead one to believe that it has a good economy but in reality, each individual person (on average) makes about $16,700 per year (GDP PPP).

3. The amount of money spent on military expenditures in the United States is 3.16% of the GDP. This is interesting because many expect the USA to spend a ridiculous amount of money on there military, and they do, but in reality, they are only ranked 19, which again is quite high but not the highest.

4. The United States is ranked as the lowest country with underweight children under five. This was quite interesting to me because it is quite popular knowledge that the USA has an obesity problem, but to see that result in the lowest child underweight rate was not something I was expecting. Obviously underweight children are not positive by any means, but, in correlation to the obesity rate, it can be argued that American culture can lead to habits of eating very fat-inducing foods.

5. The United States is ranked number twelfth in obesity at 36.2%. Although this number is close to the top, I expected the USA to be even closer. Upon further investigation, I realized that most of the countries above are small island nations, such as Hawaii, mostly along the Australian Ocean. One of the countries above the USA was Kuwait, a Middle Eastern country. This shocked me because I was used to thinking of Middle Eastern countries as developing, but this country actually had better GDP PPP than the USA.

1. Chad

Due to the triangle formation, I believe the Population of Chad to increase quickly. According to populationpyramids.net, I was Correct.

2. Saudi Arabia

Due to the slightly oval shape and dip towards the reproductive years, I believe the population to increase slightly. According to populationpyramids.net, I was Correct.

3. Israel

Due to the large triangle formation, I believe the population to increase quickly. According to populationpyramids.net, it is closer to a slight yet steady increase.

4. Sri Lanka

Due to the relatively even shape of the pyramid, I believe the population to increase slightly.  According to populationpyramids.net, it actually stays the same for a certain period of time then decreases.

5. Greece

Due to the dip in reproductive years, and a majority of the people in post-reproductive years, I believe the population to decrease in the next couple of decades.  According to populationpyramids.net, I was Correct.
