Prehistoric Civ

Today in class we took more notes. I know, who could've guessed? We continued our lesson on prehistoric civilization. Thankfully, we took the notes on the slide instead of the book, which I find so much more boring. Before that, however, we discussed Mr. Schick's daughter's church, which was beautiful. Due to a lifetime of being dragged against my will into antique European styled churches, I was able to identify the church as a gothic style church. I'm so incredibly upset that I now have this skillset. After upon seeing that this church celebrated pride week, I knew for certain that if anything, it wasn't Baptist.

More on the prehistoric civ stuff

Today in class we sadly took notes again. It was quite upsetting to do this, and I was extremely tired so I really didn't want to. However, life and Mr. Shick don't care. We took some notes. I hated it. After the terrible, awful, no good, very bad note-taking, we talked about some of the laws of that time. They were very brutal. It included a lot of death for crimes that seem somewhat minor by today's standards. For example, if you stole an animal you would have to pay thirtyfold what you stole, or you die. Really brutal, it would be unthinkable by today's standards. A reason for this is because they had no jail, and therefore the punishment would have to be swift and immediate, hence why its all cutting of limbs or death.

The Punic Wars

The Punic wars were a set of three wars fought between the Roman and Carthaginians. The first Punic war was fought over Sicily, which would've been a very good strategic position.  After many naval battles, Rome was able to win this war, beginning their win streak against Carthage. Eventually, Carthage wanted revenge for their defeat, so they launched an attack on Rome, this time with the great general Hannibal. They attacked Rome from the north, which was an unexpected strategy. They managed to attack a lot of the Penninsula, however, they were never able to reach Rome. The last Punic war was started by the Romans. They were tired of Carthage being a threat to them, so they decided to wipe them out. After 17 days of burning, the city was no more. All of Carthages land was annexed by Rome, ending the Punic wars.

The Last Cyber Assignment and Last blog ever (forever)

Dear Future David, 2020 sure has been an interesting year, and we're only halfway through it. The main star of this dumpster fire of a year is the pandemic currently sweeping the world. Everythings super different now with cyber school and all that, but honestly, after a bit of adaptation, it wasn't that bad. I mean, sure, I would like to hang out with my friends and stuff, and it sucks that spring sports got canceled, but other than that for me personally adjusting to this new lifestyle wasn't that hard. I know that it's not the same for everyone though. Some kids are having a lot harder time learning this way, and there are people that don't have enough savings to last them a while suddenly unemployed essentially. Not to mention all the people that have died. The list goes on and on, so I'd say in the grand scheme of things it's not that bad on me, especially compared to other people.
