Finishing notes

Today in class we finished taking the notes from yesterday. I was already mostly done so I had the class period to do whatever I wanted. I had spent the class doing some homework I had pilling up so as to have more free time later. When I eventually and inevitably got bored of that I decided to do some other stuff. This other stuff that I had just mentioned is to be kept secret to myself and myself alone. I promise, however, that it wasn't anything obscene but instead the reason I am refusing to tell you is that it lengthens the word count.

Quiz and new unit

Today in class we took the quiz on Mesopotamia and stuff. It was really easy. I think that I probably got 100% on it however I am not sure. I don't know if I successfully spelled "Ziggurat" which is dumb because this is a history test, not spelling. Anyway, after the test, we moved on to a new unit about Egypt.  I learned that Egypt started as a bunch of small farming villages that began popping up along the narrow banks of the Nile river. Eventually, the villages evolved into two kingdoms, Upper and Lower Egypt. I ran out of time so I wasn't able to read more or finish my notes but we will have time tomorrow to do that.

Watching music vids

Today in class we didn't really do much besides watch music videos in class.  First, however, we went over our notes and the important topics that will be on the quiz on Wednesday. Once we finished that, we listened to the Mesopotamia song which was a cover of a Soulja Boy song. We listened to it on repeat a few times before he showed us the song he wrote about ancient Rome. It was a very fun class. I'm feeling confident about this quiz and think I'll do well. I hope it'll be easy and I can get 100 on it. Honestly, the only piece of information I feel I need to study is the ziggurat. I can't seem to recall its name often. I think I'll do fine though. I have no need to worry.

More on the prehistoric civ stuff

Today in class we sadly took notes again. It was quite upsetting to do this, and I was extremely tired so I really didn't want to. However, life and Mr. Shick don't care. We took some notes. I hated it. After the terrible, awful, no good, very bad note-taking, we talked about some of the laws of that time. They were very brutal. It included a lot of death for crimes that seem somewhat minor by today's standards. For example, if you stole an animal you would have to pay thirtyfold what you stole, or you die. Really brutal, it would be unthinkable by today's standards. A reason for this is because they had no jail, and therefore the punishment would have to be swift and immediate, hence why its all cutting of limbs or death.

Prehistoric Civ

Today in class we took more notes. I know, who could've guessed? We continued our lesson on prehistoric civilization. Thankfully, we took the notes on the slide instead of the book, which I find so much more boring. Before that, however, we discussed Mr. Schick's daughter's church, which was beautiful. Due to a lifetime of being dragged against my will into antique European styled churches, I was able to identify the church as a gothic style church. I'm so incredibly upset that I now have this skillset. After upon seeing that this church celebrated pride week, I knew for certain that if anything, it wasn't Baptist.

Three environmental challenges to Sumerians 1. Unpredictable flooding followed by long droughts 2. No natural barriers for protection 3. Natural resources were very limited.

Free Day (Yay)

There's not that much to write about for today's blog as we didn't do much. However, because I want the points, I will write about it anyway. Today in class we played jeopardy. Well, we just kinda watched jeopardy and answered the questions. We chose a candidate to represent Nick due to the similarities between the two. He lost by a lot. He finished the game with no money. It was awful. Complete manslaughter. Just brutal. Not even close. He was 10k away from the closest competitor. It was hard to look at. Just awful. Sad. It was very sad. A toddler could've done better. He should've just stayed home.

Test again

Today in class we took a test on the Guns, Germs, and Steel video. In my own personal opinion, not to jinx myself or encourage change, but it was quite easy. It had very little questions for a test, only 26, and the questions themselves weren't too terribly difficult. In order to prevent test-taking anxiety our teacher, Mr. Stick, put on some calm, meditative music in order to calm us. As well as giving us positive conformations to boost our confidence and self-esteem levels. Perhaps this is the true reason I had a much easier than average test-taking experience, not that I encourage anything more difficult. A calm mind allows me to think deeper and properly into the truths of the universe, myself, and the test answers.
